Procrastination: An angel or a devil?

If you are on this page, you most likely searched something about procrastination or you probably are worried about the action items that you have been delaying for some time. Don't worry! you are not the only one procrastinating. The article that you are reading is written by one of the worst procrastinators out there, trust me!

Even if you just visited this page out of curiosity, please give it a read to know something about the life of a chronic procrastinator.

Now, why I am saying all this stuff and not getting straight to the point: Is procrastination an angel or devil? Of course, it does not look any good to procrastinate to the last minute and panic but well, a chronic procrastinator like me finds good things in procrastination too!

If you are like me who is good at getting things done under immense levels of stress, there you are my friend: Procrastination is working for you!

Is it though?

Here, you have to ask yourself if you have been finishing up your work on time. Do you think things will work out if you get to more tedious work? A good example would be to compare two situations: taking lower-division courses in college/university and taking upper division in college/university. If you have not gone through this just yet, believe me, I have first-hand experience and it is not a good experience at all!

Let me tell you how it feels to be a chronic procrastinator and see if you can relate in any sense.

Feeling and Thinking #1:

Stressed all the time about the work that you know has to be done but haven't started yet!

Feeling and Thinking #2:

I still have time, I will finish it on time!

Feeling and Thinking #3:

My brain is not able to focus.

Feeling and Thinking #4:

Finding yourself surfing on the web or doing some activity which is not even your favorite instead of that important work.

And a lot of feelings and thought processes proceed...

Now if you have been reading this far, you might have noticed that my article is leaning more towards the devilish side of procrastination. If so, you are not wrong here!

Any pros of procrastination?

Yes, it makes you feel like you are enjoying your time not doing your work which is just a pseudo thought process. So, is it a benefit?

Another benefit I can think of, it makes you finish your work in several hours instead of several days. Is that work accounts for your 100% output or even 96% output. Yes, I am just throwing random numbers out there and I truly wish I could have more time to research more about this! This same sentence comes to mind every time I rush through my assignments and tasks to meet the deadlines.

That time never comes if this habit goes on and we are ourselves responsible in losing that time. The first question you may ask yourself, are you reading this article while procrastinating on some stuff? If so, you very well know what I am indicating here.

Alright, without wasting any further time throwing out my random thoughts, I would say procrastination is the worst habit one could ever develop, at least for me. Yes, after all this thought process, I am finally saying it!

It is the one responsible for keeping me away from things I really enjoy. For example, I have been delaying blog writing for years now, but finally, I am writing my first blog here.

You heard it right! oops 😅, I guess you read it right! You just need to start doing the work and then it becomes easier to not put off the work.

I guess my final thought would be that procrastination is a devil restricting us from starting important work and diverting us to some random thoughts and things that can be put off. Basically, it is not letting you do what you should do at that moment, rather it is making you do what you shouldn't be considering at that particular moment.

That's what I think of procrastination. What do you guys think, please feel free to comment below!! I want to know your opinions.

Thanks for reading!!
